Ive had this dress in my closet for 3 years now. My cousin picked it out with me in a vintage shop in NYC, who at the time, was working on the set of Gossip Girls. Fun Times! Anyway i have been debating/scared to do anything with it. So finally on Sunday I sat down at my sewing machine and went to work, and what d'ya know? it actually came out really cute!

First I cut the neckline, (it was not very flattering the way it was)

Then I cut the sleeves using just a t-shirt for
a guide.

I added a little lace at the top and VOILA!

Gold Fever!

We live about 30 minutes from where it all began for the gold Rush of California. I have been so eager to come out to Sutter's mill and actually see the river where it all took place. I kept on having flashbacks of fourth grade and learning about this time in our history. And the song "paint your wagon" kept on repeating itself over and over in my head. I have never been panning for gold before, so i thought this would be an opportune time to do so. (except for the time at Knott's berry farm, but that doesn't count). I was so excited that I was determined to find GOLD! But to my dismay i didn't find ANY! But we sure had a great time in the freezing cold water feeling like a true 49er!

A local told us that we had to go way out into the middle of the river to find the big pieces of gold, it was so cold i couldn't stay in long, next time i will be bringing some rubber boots!

My feet and hands were frozen, but i was determined to find Gold. I really was getting gold fever, it was weird to feel this way, I had to rip myself away and realize i was not going to find gold that day.

What I have been up to...

I've been inspired by my Abuelita (my Grandma Dora Soria) She used to stitch a lot. My mom recently found a kitchen cloth that she stitched for my mom and dad when they got married. I love it and I wanted to make some of my own, so I did and I have enjoyed it very much! It is tedious, but when I get sick of it I just put it down and start it when i feel like it. I forget how fun it is to make something and actually like the finished product!

On a side note: I have started to take cake decorating classes and I absolutely love it and i am only on the second lesson, stay tunned for pictures of my cakes!

Another side note: I am taking Bikram yoga. It is kicking my butt. the women in the class have bodies to make any woman self conscious, heres hoping my body will look like theirs some day.... But love the way my body feels afterwards.

So rusty and i went out to for dinner at this Greek restaurant called Aristo's , its across the street from the University of Utah. The First time we went we were completely ignored and sat at our table for 45 mins and then we left! We thought we would never go again but we have a gift certificate to there and so we went back tonight. We sit down, we are served and we start eating. So far so good, then as rusty goes to take his second bite of his food, he sees a black thing and decides to inspect it. I look over and see a black beetle looking object on his plate, and i say is that a bug?? and he says i think so, we inspect it more and lo and behold it is a small beetle! So we Quietly tell the waitress and she takes the food back. Now i understand that bugs get into food and it happens and i am not mad about that, still gross, but what they did after is what makes me LIVID! and most of you know i don't get "LIVID" that often. SO the waitress comes back and brings a plate with a burnt piece of something and says "sometimes burnt rice gets into the food" WHAT! REALLY! I think i know what a burnt piece of rice looks like I AM NOT AN IDIOT! for ONE there was no rice in our dish and TWO Why didn't she bring out the piece of "rice" that was in our food?? Explain that one!!! And THREE I know what a beetle looks like and it was a beetle NOT a piece of burnt rice GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Then they made us pay for our appetizer and then as we are leaving all of the servers and hostesses are staring at us as we leave. ARRRRRGGG!!! that made me more mad because they were wrong and they made it look like it was our fault!!! BAD SERVICE! I will never ever go back there again!! phew! I feel so much better, thanks for listening.

Not a lot has been going on in the Walker household. I got a job (finally) I work as the Office Technician/Assistant at a preschool. I really like it. We bought our tickets to Scotland and Africa and we are super excited! I 've been planing like crazy! I can't wait for May to come! So if you are wondering why we have tickets to scotland and africa, it's is because we are traveling through Europe first and then down to Africa. College Graduate

Yesterday was my official last day of college. I am so relieved to be done with that segment of my life. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to go to college and increase my knowledge. As I was reflecting on the last four years of college I have many emotions there were times where I loved going to school ( not that often) and then there were a lot of times where I absolutely hated it! But i really learned a lot about myself and the things that i am capable of. I learned so much about the world and how i can be a positive part in it. if you are thinking of going to school or thinking of finishing it DO IT! you will feel great and accomplished after you do!

Liberty Park is considered salt lake's central park. It is a pretty good replica of central park. Even though is not nearly as big, it still has beautiful scenery, especially this time of the year. We walked around yesterday in the crisp autumn air and took snapshots of the changing scenery.

Can I just say how much I love yoga! It is the most amazing workout ever.
It is a great stress reliever, and a great way to keep your body flexible.
For you mamas out there who haven't tried it, I highly recommend it!
Also if you feel you are super stressed, this is the way to go!

GIRLS WEEKEND IN NEW YORK!

I need a job ASAP! I have to find one soon because Rusty is starting his new program at the U and his schedule is all day so it won't leave him a lot of time to work! So this is why I need a second job, i have never really needed to search for a job before because i usually just find a salon I like and then it's a done deal! This job searching stuff is hard! The reason it is so hard for me is because I don't want to work on saturdays or sundays and I don't want to take a job that pays minimum wage. I also am having a hard time with working for someone else, I have worked for myself for the past 3 years and I love it. Any suggestions for my job search??? I would love to hear them!

We went to a few museums that explained the Witch hysteria, this is the Witch Dungeon, the name explains it all. It was actually really cool, they had the actual transcript from the trial and they acted it out, it was fun. Its crazy how everyone in this town believed the girls that were pointing fingers at innocent people!

Boston! The Old State House- this is where they read the Declaration of Independence to everyone in Boston, and on the left side of the building is where the Boston Massacre took place

Cemetery, It was fun because there were guys dressed up in Revolutionary Attire. This Cemetery has a lot of famous people in it, like Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, And all of the men that were killed at the boston massacre.

If you go to Coney Island it is a must that you get the Famous Nathan Hot dog-sooo good! ( I swear i gained so much weight on this trip!)

Rusty and I are going on Vacation to the East coast in couple of weeks. .....Miles of running that Rusty did in 24 hours. This race went from Logan to Park City, and his team of 12 did it in 28 hours. They were pretty tired after this weekend, they didn't get much sleep because if they weren't running they were stuffed in a car. This is a big thing for rusty since he has never been an avid runner because if his asthma. I am so proud of him that he was able to run 16 miles! Woohoo Go Rusty!!! We found a real gem in Salt lake City: Gilgal Park -the only place you can find a sphinx with Joesph Smith's face on it. Pretty Fun I highly recommend it, we went with our friends Becca and Paul and had a fun time taking pictures..............

So I'm Hooked! I've read the first two books in the past 6 days! if you like awesome love stories this one is great because it has a twist. The movie comes out in December and you should really read the series before it comes out! I never thought I would be into love stories so much but its GREAT!

TIRED! After our 5k run

So here we are after our run, my face is bright red and it stayed that way for like 2 hours! We had fun, but it was the hardest 5k I have ever heard of! up hills down hills back and fourths on sidewalks( which by the way I almost fell and smashed my face, but luckily I have cat-like reflexes)

AWESOME BOOK! if you are looking for a great book to read this summer this is a great one. It's about the Japanese women that came over from Japan to San Francisco during the early 1900s and how they only knew their husbands through photos. I almost cried reading it, it was that good!

5K run anyone?

Yep, thats right We are in a 5K this weekend! It's for this clinic that most of the Med students work at and its to raise money for the clinic. And it will look good on Rusty's resume because he put a lot of the race together. Rusty is totally ready, as for me I will be huffing and puffing. I'll take a picture after we run and we can see how red my face is!

We finally made a Blog!

Well we love it here in Utah! We are working hard in school and having fun in Sugarhouse. It is the cutest neighborhood and everyone is so nice here. Here we are eating sushi for Rusty's birthday, it was a while ago, but it was our most recent picture.

We went to one of my favorite cities, San Francisco and caught the beautiful sunset.

Here's a look at our quirky apartment. How do you like our wood paneling? Yup that's green shag carpeting, and I love it! I'll take more pictures and post them.
